Setting
Things to do
- Quick feet
- Try to get to the spot before the ball does.
- Face The Target
- Square off to target with shoulders and feet before you deliver set
- Hands up shaped like the ball
- Thumbs and index fingers form a circle through which you can see ball
- Rest of hands form the shape of a ball.
- Forehead And Hips
- the ball, forehead, and hips in a vertical line
- The correct contact point is just above the forehead
- Soft Hands
- Let the ball come into your hands with a slight downward motion with the wrists
- One Direction
- When contacting the ball, the hands move in one direction only.
- Legs
- Drive the ball with your legs. Power comes from your legs; not just from pushing with your arms.
- Freeze
- Freeze with palms turned out and arms fully extended in the direction you want the ball to go. (Hands are the same distance apart upon completion as they were during contact.)
Things to avoid
- Contacting the ball with the palms of the hands.
- Stabbing at the ball with your fingers
- Facing where the ball is coming from
